Captains Handle Peace
Newport News, VA -- Nationally ranked Christopher Newport (19-0, 12-0 USAS) handled the Pacers (7-10, 3-8 USAS) efficiently tonight with a 90-46 win from the Freeman Center. The Captains opened up with a 19-point halftime lead and more than doubled that lead in the final 20 minutes of play shooting 50% from the field.
CNU built a 17-point lead in the first eight minutes of action. Peace cut the deficit to just nine on a 10-2 run capped off with a three-pointer from Mia Sloan. The Pacers continued to battle but were plagued with turnovers in the final 4:38 of the first period.
Peace knocked in two more from behind the arc to cut the lead to 15 with just over 15 minutes remaining in regulation. But the Captains unleashed their offense to move out of reach from their opponent.
