Methodist Tops the Pacers

Fayetteville, NC -- Peace (7-11, 3-9 USAS) took a 70-58 conference loss tonight at Methodist University (12-9, 8-6 USAS).  The Pacers shot better from the field than the Monarchs, but the difference in the game came at the line.  Methodist earned 27 points at the free throw line off of Peace fouls compared to PC's eight.

The Pacers stayed even with MU through the first eight minutes of play in spite of the three fouls charged to point guard Megan Bridges.  But fouls and turnovers continued to plague Peace sending the team into the locker room in a 12-point hole.

A spark from first-year forward Angel Fuller pulled the Pacers to within eight with just over eight minutes remaining in regulation.  But a 15-2 Monarch run put the visitors out of reach for good.

Fuller finished with a career-high 14 points on 6-9 shooting and three blocks.  She added seven rebounds for Peace.  Margaret Minton grabbed seven rebounds as well, adding four points.  Mia Sloan tallied 11 points and picked up a steal for her second-best offensive game of the season.  LeAnne Horne added 14.

Methodist's Michaela Myers led her team with 15 points, including 5-5 from the stripe.  Jackie Lyles added 12, and teammate TT Taylor lead all with a game-high 10 rebounds.

Peace hosts Shenandoah University at 2:00 pm Saturday with Mary Baldwin following Sunday afternoon.  Join the Pacers Saturday morning as the team welcomes alumnae athletes back to the Hermann gymnasium for a little hoops action slated to begin around 10:30 am.  See you on the sidelines!
