Pacers Take The Pride in Pink Game

Raleigh, NC -- The Peace College (9-13, 5-11 USAS) basketball team earned their second win this week defeating The Pride of Greensboro College (7-14, 5-11 USAS) 57-49 in the Hermann Center in today's Pink Zone game.  The teams played a balanced first half with GC up by just three at the break.  Peace took control in the final four minutes of play to seal the win.

Greensboro pushed their first-half lead to five on a layup from their leading scorer Bianca Richburg in the opening minute of second-half action.  But Margaret Minton hit a long jumper to ignite a 6-0 Pacer run to give Peace a one point lead at 16:35.

The teams exchanged the lead on six more occasions when Angel Fuller followed with a putback on a missed jumper from today's top scorer LeAnne Horne.  Peace protected the lead and the score to secure the win.

Horne shot 50% from the field to contribute 20 points on the game.  First-year standout Megan Sherrill completed another solid effort with a career-high 11 points, adding three steals and four assists.  Minton finished with six.

Richburg notched the only double-double on the day with 17 points, 10 rebounds.  Junior Nikki Wilborn tallied 11 points, six assists, and seven rebounds in the loss.

Peace travels to North Carolina Wesleyan Thursday to battle with the Bishops.  Tipoff is slated for 7:00 pm in Everett Gymnasium.  After wrapping up the conference season next Saturday at Ferrum, Peace hosts Salem College for senior night Sunday afternoon.  Come out and support the four seniors who wrapup their career with the Pacers.  See you on the sidelines!
