Panthers Dominate Second Half for Win
Ferrum, VA -- The Peace College (9-15, 5-13 USAS) basketball team turned in a strong first half effort at Ferrum College (19-6, 13-5 USAS) in today's final regular season conference game and enjoyed a two-point lead at the break. But the hosts outscored the Pacers 49-20 in the final 20 minutes of regulation to seal the 81-54 win. FC finished the season in second place, while Peace's fate remains undetermined this afternoon.
Karissa Herring gave the Pacers a 13-point lead on her third three-pointer of the night with just under eight minutes remaining before intermission. Ferrum cut that lead to just two on a 17-6 run going into the half.
Peace scored only four points in the opening 10 minutes of second half action to quickly suspend the chance for an upset.
Herring finished the day with 11 points, adding a team-high seven rebounds. Senior LeAnne Horne added 12 points. Megan Bridges and Angel Fuller notched eight apiece. Fuller was perfect from the stripe and grabbed six rebounds in the loss.
The Panthers finished with five players in double-digits, including Kristen Keith with a game-high 19. Keith added 14 rebounds for the only double-double on the day. Teammate ashley Norton tallied 10 assists for Ferrum.
Peace closes out the regular season hosting Salem College at 2:00 pm Sunday afternoon. Celebration of the team's four seniors is slated to begin at 1:25 pm. See you on the sidelines!
