Minton, Long and Lyons are winners at awards ceremony
Led by Director of Athletics Kelly Johnson, Peace College celebrated the success of Pacer Athletics Wednesday night with the 15th annual Athletics Award Banquet. The coaches, administration and student-athletes reviewed the accomplishments of Peace College during the 2010-11 academic year.

Danville, Va. - The Averett Cougars (7-2, 3-0 USAS) dominated Peace College (4-5, 0-3 USAS) 73-43 in today's USA South matchup to open the New Year. The hosts outperformed the Pacers with 51.9% shooting and double the rebounds to enjoy the league win at the Grant Center.

Winston-Salem, N.C. - With nine miniutes remaining in regulation, host Salem College chipped away at a 10-point Pacer advantage to tie the game 59-59 at the buzzer. The Spirits hit a dozen free throws in overtime to seal the 73-68 win over Peace (4-4).

Raleigh, N.C. - The Peace Pacers (4-3) held on to win today's non-league matchup 62-58 against visiting Hollins University (4-4). Three consecutive threes in the first four minutes of the second period gave way to a 14-2 Hollins run that cut PC's 13-point lead to six.

Newport News, Va. - The Peace College (3-3, 0-2 USAS) basketball team endured a tough day against #3 Christopher Newport (5-0, 2-0 USAS). The Captains outrebounded Peace 47-27 to capture a 95-47 win in the Freeman Center and hand the Pacers their second consecutive conference loss this season.

Ferrum, N.C. - The Ferrum College Panthers (2-2), picked second in the preseason coaches poll, gave Peace (3-2) their first USA South loss in tonight's 91-66 league opener. Angel Fuller set the tone for the Pacers with 7-8 shooting from the floor and 10 rebounds in the loss.

Raleigh, N.C. - The Peace College basketball team outshot the Randolph Wildcats 49% to 26% to take a 43-12 advantage into the half. Even scoring in the final 20 minutes of play left PC ahead 75-43 for their third win of the season.

Raleigh, N.C. - Peace College Director of Athletics Kelly Johnson announced Tuesday Michelle Simonson will transition as the head cross country coach after serving this fall as the assistant. In addition to leading cross country, Simonson will continue her role as assistant basketball coach with Johnson.
