Raleigh, N.C. - The Peace Pacers 15-member basketball squad opened the season with a 6:00 am practice October 15 under the reigns of seventh-year Head Coach Kelly Johnson. The team looks to improve on the ninth-place ranking predicted in this year's USA South preseason coaches poll.

Johnson returns this season with ten from last year's squad, including lone senior Margaret Minton who led in three-point scoring. Other standouts include junior Karissa Herring, who led the guards grabbing 6.6 rebounds per game and the team scoring 12.5 points per game. Junior point guard Megan Bridges maintains her role after averaging more than three assists per game last winter.

Averaging double-digit minutes last year, returners Rebecca Davis, Angel Fuller, Megan Sherrill, and Mia Sloan will add to the squad's depth. Johnson will look to new leadership from sophomores Britney Burke, Katerina Dema, and Rachel Lyons.

Newcomers Crystal Alston and Kellie Hawley will help the perimeter play, while the team will look to first-years Katelyn Bradley, Charity Tillotson, and Cayleigh Weekly inside the paint.

Peace will test their skills in tonight's scrimmage in the Hermann Center. Patrick Johnson and his broadcast team will set the stage for the 2010-2011 season in an audio preview during Monday's action. See you on the sidelines!
