Quakers down Pacers in Jackie Ammons Memorial Tournament
Raleigh, N.C. – Morgan King notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Gabby Oglesby scored a game-high 14 points to lead the Guilford Quakers to a 66-41 win over the Peace Pacers in the consolation game of the Jackie Ammons Memorial Tournament Saturday.
Peace (0-3) kept things close early in the first half but was unable to keep up with Guilford. For the third straight game, poor shooting did in the Pacers, who shot just 21.9 percent for the game. The starting five for Peace hit just 6-of-34 shots.
A jumper by Brittany Connor gave the Quakers (1-2) a 30-21 halftime lead. The Pacers scored first in the second half on a Megan Bridges layup but the seven-point deficit was as close as the game would get.
Guilford went on a 12-0 run, with King, Oglesby and Jaclyn Nucci each scoring four points apiece. A bucket by Rebecca Davis ended the drought for Peace but the damage was done.
Derrica Jones and Crystal Alston led the Pacers with 8 points each. Jones added 10 rebounds and was Peace's representative on the All-Tournament team. King represented Guilford.
The Pacers return to action Sunday, November 27th with a road game at Randolph.
