Peace suffers two-point loss at Randolph

Lynchburg, Va. – The Peace Pacers returned from their holiday break and dropped a hard-fought decision against the Randolph WildCats, 59-57, Sunday afternoon. It was the first home victory in 33 contests for the WildCats.

Megan Russell led the way for Randolph, with 24 points and 12 rebounds, both game-high totals. Russell hit 8-19 shots from the floor and 8-12 from the line. Additionally, she pulled down six offensive rebounds, helping the WildCats to an 18-7 lead on the offensive glass.

Peace had its best shooting night of the young season, as it converted 21-54 shots. But the Pacers were done in at the free-throw line, where they made just 11-24 foul shots. In the second half Peace cashed in on just 6-14 free-throw attempts, not once hitting both shots and twice missing the front end of one-and-one attempts.

Crystal Alston led Peace with a team-high 14 points, to go along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Derrica Jones added 13 points and 7 rebounds in 19 minutes.

The Pacers return to action Wednesday night, when they open up USA South Conference play with a 7:00 PM tip at N.C. Wesleyan. Peace's next home game is on December 3rd, when it hosts conference foe Ferrum.
