Bishops Take Peace 3-0
Raleigh, NC-The Peace College (1-11, 1-4 USAS) soccer squad dropped a disappointing 3-0 loss to visiting North Carolina Wesleyan (3-10, 1-3 USAS).
The Bishops opened with a breakaway goal from Lydia Hunt at 38:37. While the Pacers managed a solid offensive pace with 7 shots to Wesleyan's 10 during the half, the team remained scoreless into the break.
After the intermission, Peace opened with back-to-back shots from Harlonda Smith (Huntersville, NC) and Melissa Moran (Raleigh, NC) at visiting keeper Tiina Rastolia, who notched two of seven match saves. Wesleyan's Kellie Simons gave the visitors a 2-0 lead, assisted by Meredith Hester.
The Bishops completed the scoring on another breakaway from Hunt in the final three minutes of play to seal the 3-0 victory over Peace.
Moran and Smith each tallied four shots in the loss. Haley Bright (Snow Hill, NC) and Brittany Lynn (Raleigh, NC) recorded two apiece.
Peace hosts league-leader Christopher Newport University tomorrow at 2:00 pm on WakeMed Soccer Park's field two. The six seniors will be celebrated before the match begins. See you on the sidelines!
