Pacers Close Soccer Season

Raleigh, NC-The Peace College soccer team closed the 2009 season with a tough 7-1 loss tonight versus the Avenging Angels.  Meredith clinched the USA South regular season title with the victory.

The Angels opened the game with the first goal just under two minutes into the first period.  Kristy Knight earned her first of four with the help of teammate Kimberly Williams.

Peace's senior forward Harlonda Smith (Huntersville, NC) netted the Pacers only goal on a long ball from Brittany Lynn (Raleigh, NC) at the thirteen minute mark.

Meredith's Knight picked up the next three points for her team, two assisted by Maggie Hart.  Sarah Murray and Annah Kane each tallied an assist as well.  Carrie Talbert picked up the final goal of the half unassisted.

The Pacers maintained defensive pressure after the break but could not get much going at the net.  The Avenging Angels' Maggie Barilich and Hannah Garrison closed the scoing in the last fifteen minutes of play.  Teammates Jessie Breazeale and Ayla Koc notched an assist apieace on the match.

The Pacers closed their season with tonight's loss.  We wish the six dedicated seniors well and look forward to another successful year in 2010.  See you on the sidelines!
