Soccer Drops Opening Round to the Vixens

Raleigh, N.C. - The Peace College Pacers (0-1) lost their opening soccer match to the visiting Vixens of Sweet Briar College (1-0). New Head Coach Keith Jenkins and his young PC squad, including just four returners this fall, showed solid moments on the Koka Booth Stadium field but took the 7-0 loss.

Returning leader Melissa Moran led the offensive push for Peace with support from newcomers Sabre Jessup and Morgan Rabil. Britney Burke, who played basketball only during her first-year at Peace, added help on the right side.

First-year Bailey Bumgardner guided the defensive efforts of classmates Reba Hodge and Daisy Vasilko, to support returning keeper Devin Gravgaard. Gravgaard played just three games in goal last fall in her seven trips to the field.

Peace remains in town this coming Labor Day weekend at the Meredith College Classic. The Pacers face Salem College Saturday followed by the Quakers of Guilford College Sunday. Both matches are slated to kick-off at 3:15 pm. See you on the sidelines!
