Soccer Takes a Hit from the Spirits

Raleigh, N.C. - The Pacer soccer team took an 11-0 loss from the Salem College Spirits in today's first round of the Meredith College Classic. Meredith defeated Guilford 4-0 in the 1:00 pm match. Peace and Meredith swap opponents tomorrow with the Pacers opposite the Quakers at 3:15.

First-year defender Reba Hodge battled in the back field to support keeper Sherry Revels. Support from newcomer Chelsea Noyes and Daisy Vasilko helped the fight but Peace was simply outnumbered.

The tenacious Spirits dominated the offensive end with 27 shots to PC's 2. Salem allowed just one corner for Peace while SC attacked seven times from the corner.

Sabre Jessup, Melissa Moran, and Morgan Rabil were ready on offense and made two solid attempts early in the second period but could not reach the net.

Sunday's match versus Guilford at the Meredith field will be the last in-town contest until Saturday, September 25. Peace travels to Georgia next weekend to face Agnes Scott and Piedmont followed by away games at Hollins and Salem. See you on the sidelines!
