Shorthanded Pacers fall in soccer

Cary, N.C. – The Salem College Spirits downed the Peace College Pacers, 7-0, in a game played Sunday afternoon at Koka Booth Stadium.

The Pacers (1-10) are normally at a disadvantage with a roster comprised of just 12 players.  However, things were even more difficult than normal for Peace Sunday as they had just 10 healthy players and had to play the entire game with one fewer player than Salem (7-3-1).

Just 55 seconds into the game Erica Edwards gave the Spirits a 1-0 lead.  But the game remained that way for most of the first half before Salem added two more goals before halftime.  Anna Trakas finished with two goals and Bethany Kent added three assists.

Daisy Vasilko had 23 saves for the Pacers and was under constant attack for the whole game.

Friday Peace fell by a 10-1 score at Columbia (S.C.).

The Pacers return to action next Saturday, when they host conference foe Mary Baldwin at 2:00 PM.
