Captains shut out Pacers in soccer

Raleigh, NC – One day after a disappointing loss to North Carolina Wesleyan, the Peace Pacers returned to action against powerful Christopher Newport and came out on the short side of a 7-0 final.

Shelby Walters had two goals for the Captains (7-6-1) while Erin O'Shaughnessy added a goal and two assists for the winners.

After scoring their sixth goal in the first half at the 34:54 mark, the visitors let up on the gas pedal, a tactic they continued in the second half.  Several times after intermission, the Captains had a clear shot at the goal, only to turn around and pass it back to an open teammate.

Peace (1-16) concludes its season Friday night when it hosts Meredith at 6:00 PM at Koka Booth Stadium. It will be the final home game for senior Kayleigh Simmons.
