Southern Virginia blanks Peace in soccer

Buena Vista, Va. – Lora Palmer scored twice to lead the Southern Virginia Knights to an 8-0 win over the William Peace Pacers on a rainy, overcast day. It was the second straight shutout win for Southern Virginia.

The Knights tallied four goals in each half. They broke open a tight 1-0 game with back-to-back scores two-and-a-half minutes apart midway through the first half. Palmer's second goal of the game came at the 29:27 mark.

The Pacers had just five shots in the game, with only Melissa Moran's coming directly on goal.  Sydney Melchert stopped 15 shots in a losing effort for Peace.

Coach Keith Jenkins' squad returns to action Saturday, when they host conference foe Piedmont at 2:00 PM.
