Cary, N.C. – The William Peace University Pacers stepped out of conference play to host the Columbia Koalas Wednesday night but ended up on the wrong side of a 6-0 game at Koka Booth Stadium.
The Koalas (9-5-1) had too much speed for the Pacers and no one was faster than Jessica Martinez, who scored just 41 seconds into the match. Martinez finished with three goals, with all three coming in the first half.
Columbia played a wide open style of game, which gave Peace several chances to score. Melissa Moran and Anna Tew each had three shots but were unable to hit the back of the net.
The Pacers had an excellent chance to score when Moran had a penalty kick but her shot was off the mark.
Peace returns to action Saturday with a road game at Christopher Newport.
