Moran scores on Senior Night for Pacers

Cary, N.C. – It was a big night at Koka Booth Stadium for the William Peace Pacers. Not only was it a game versus inter-city rival Meredith, but it was also Pink Game and senior night, with the team honoring captain Melissa Moran with a pre-game ceremony. The Pacers played an inspired game but came out on the short end of a 5-1 score to the Avenging Angels.

With all of the festivities surrounding the game, Peace had its biggest home soccer crowd of the season. Invigorated by the atmosphere, the Pacers came out strong and competed on an even level with the heavily-favored Angels for most of the first half.

The highlight of the night came when Moran lifted a kick high into the net for her team-leading fourth goal of the season. The score by Moran knotted the game at 1-1 and was a wonderful way for the four-year senior to conclude her career.

The Angels added two more goals before halftime and added two more in the second half for the 5-1 final.

Peace ends its 2012 season with a 2-16 record, matching its win total from the previous two seasons combined. Moran was the only senior on the squad and coach Keith Jenkins looks to return 13 letter winners for the 2013 season.
