Peace Tennis Drops First Home Showing To Guilford Bridgers picks up only win of the day
Raleigh, NC
– The Peace tennis team suffered its third loss of the spring
season this afternoon as they took on visiting Guilford College and
were defeated 1-8.
In doubles action, senior duo Liza Bridgers and Anna Jane Hesmer
dropped the #1 doubles match to Nika Botkin and Krystal Parrish
6-8. Freshmen Ellen Smith and Kristin Robison of Peace were
defeated by Caitlin Mayton and Hilary Routon 2-8. To wrap up
doubles action, sophomore-senior combo Michelle Atkinson and Lucy
Mauney dropped to Guilford’s Lia Williams and Morgan Howard
3-8.
In the #1 flight singles match, Liza Bridgers gave Peace hope with
a 6-4, 6-1 win over Guilford’s Nika Botkin. Hesmer lost to
Parrish 7-6, 1-6 and 9-11 at #2 flight and at the #3 flight, Smith
was defeated 3-6, 0-6 by Mayton. Routon defeated Atkinson 3-6 and
0-6 at #4 flight as Robison was defeated by Williams 2-6, 4-6 at
the #5 flight. In the final singles match of the day, Mauney lost
to Howard 5-7, 5-7.
With the loss, Peace’s record dropped to 0-3 overall. The
Pacers will be in action again tomorrow, traveling to
Winston-Salem, NC to take on the Spirit of Salem College.
