Raleigh,
NC – The Peace College tennis team picked up it's first win
of the season, defeating the Battling Bishops of NC Wesleyan in
their USA South Conference opener.
The Pacers jumped out on top quick winning all three doubles
matches as senior duo Liza Bridgers and Anna Jane Hesmer dominated
Jenna Gollub and Kayla Miller at the #1 flight 8-4. Freshman Ellen
Smith and and Junior Michelle Atkinson defeated Ashley Ball and
Katie Bright 8-5 at the #2 flight. At the #3 flight, sophomore
Deneshia Craven and freshman Kristin Robison overcame Brooke and
Crystal Lashley 8-3.
In singles play, the Pacers ended in an even split as they won the
#3, 4 and 5 flights as NC Wesleyan took wins at the #1, 2 and 6
flights.
The
Pacers will take a short break in action as Peace will be on spring
break this coming week and the Pacer tennis team will resume play
again on Sunday the 11th hosting Wilson College of PA. at 2:00 at
the Ragland Tennis Complex.
