NC – The Peace College tennis team fell to NCAA Division II
Mt. Olive today 3-6 in non-conference action. Mt. Olive won the #1
and #2 doubles matches and #1-#4 singles matches but due to low
numbers had to forfeit the #3 doubles set and the #5 and #6 singles
matches.
In doubles action, Liza Bridgers/Anna Hesmer were defeated by
Kristen Jones/Monica Barone 8-1 at the #1 flight.
In the #2 doubles match, Ellen Smith/Michelle Atkinson lost to
Carol Aro/Jennifer Moats 8-1. At #3, Kristen Robison/Denishia
Craven won by forfeit.
Liza Bridgers was defeated in #1 singles by Carol Aro in two
straight sets 6-1, 6-0. At #2, Anna Hesmer lost to Monica Barone
6-1, 6-0. At #3 and #4, Ellen Smith was defeated by Kristen Jones
6-1, 6-2 and Michelle Atkinson dropped to Jennifer Moats 6-2, 6-0.
Kristen Robison and Denishia Craven both won by forfeit at the #5
and #6 flights.
Peace dropped to 4-6 overall and will resume USA South Conference
action again on Sunday at Greensboro College.
