Pacer Tennis Team Earns USA South Sportsmanship Award
Fayetteville, NC-The USA South Athletic Conference office announced team sportsmanship awards for spring sports today. The conference Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) instituted the recognition program beginning with the 2004-2005 athletic seasons as a commitment to improving the sportsmanlike environment on each campus.
For each sport, team members vote for the member institution that most completely represents the sportsmanship code promoted by the conference. The team garnering the most votes receives the sportsmanship award.
The Pacer tennis squad shared the honor with Methodist University for the 2009 spring season. According to the conference office, one ballot for Peace stated, "They were friendly and welcoming while displaying good attitudes and sportsmanship." This is the second sportsmanship honor awarded to a Pacer tennis team and the sixth to the athletics program. Basketball, volleyball and soccer teams each received the award since its inception.
