Kathy Jacobs returned to her alma mater in 2009 as the Pacers head tennis coach and continues the role in her second year this fall. A Raleigh native Jacobs lettered two years at Peace as a scholarship athlete in tennis and basketball, serving as team captain for both.  Jacobs was a member of the 1976-1977 basketball team who finished second in the nation, the highest ranking of any Peace team.  In 2002, the college inducted the basketball team as the inaugural member of the Athletics Hall of Fame.  During both years of her two-year tenure, the tennis team finished in the top ten, nationally.

After graduating from then junior college, Jacobs earned a Bachelor of Science in health education from the school of public health and Master of Arts in sports administration at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She finished her collegiate tennis career with the Tar Heels junior varsity team.

Since 1982, Jacobs has worked as a general contractor and real estate appraiser for both residential and commercial properties and currently owns her own appraisal service. She received numerous recognitions within her profession, most recently earning the 2007 Champion Award with Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women.

Jacobs graduated from Millbrook High School here in Raleigh.  As a senior, she and her partner won the state doubles championship.

In May 2008, Jacobs cofounded Lucy’s Helping Hands in an effort to help young girls “develop a firm inner foundation of self respect, confidence, and purpose” through compassion and service to others.
