Peace Volleyball Opens Season with a 1-1 Showing

Raleigh, NC- The Peace College volleyball team opened up the 2006-07 season hosting a tri-match involving Elizabeth City State University and Salem College on Friday. The Pacers went 1-1 loosing the first match to ECSU 0-3 and defeating Salem 3-0 in the second.

Junior transfer, Shamica Phillips racked up 13 kills on 18 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .611 in the first match against ECSU. Junior setter Bridget Corbitt added 16 assists and sophomore middle hitter, Kelsey Midgett added 5 kills in the loss. ECSU defeated Peace 30-26, 31-29, 30-22.

Peace defeated Salem 30-17, 30-21, 30-20 in the second match and Junior Annie Lyons led the Pacers with 7 kills, while Bridget Corbitt added 15 assists.

Peace will be in action again on Wednesday nigh as they travel to Greensboro, NC to take on Guilford College at 7:00 PM.
