Pacers Take the Spirits
Winston Salem, NC-The Peace College volleyball team earned their fourth win of the season tonight with another four-set victory over Salem College. Peace improved to 4-2 overall and Salem dropped to an even 3-3.
The Pacers took an early lead in set one and finished the set 25-16. Peace enjoyed a steady lead in the second to go up 2-0 in the match after a 25-18 set win.
The Spirits fought back to force a third set with an easy 25-13 win, but the Pacers came out strong in the fourth to go up quickly 10-2. The team maintained control and sealed the win 25-14.
Elizabeth Evanoff (Manns Harbor, NC) led her team once again with 10 kills in 25 attempts (.240), adding five blocks. Libero Brandi Pinnell (Louisburg, NC) led Peace with 13 digs. Junior transfer Gina Lyons (Newport, NC) and first-year Bree Crook (Reno, NV) earned seven kills apiece. Crook added 15 assists as well. Kayla Schuller (Raleigh, NC) and Amber Lowe (Cedar Grove, NC) each recorded 11 digs in the win, and Lowe added six kills.
Salem's Christine Tillman led all with a match-high 17 kills and seven blocks. Teammate Khadija Layne earned 10 kills and a match-high 16 digs in the loss.
The Pacers travel next to Virginia for a quad match at Lynchburg College with St. Mary's College of Maryland and the USA South's NC Wesleyan. Peace opens at home next week versus Averett University Wednesday, September 16, at 7:00 pm. See you on the sidelines!
