Pacers Drop Three in Non-League Quad
Lynchburg, VA-The Pacers dropped three matches in today's non-league action at the Lynchburg College quad match. Peace dropped to 4-5 overall. Lynchburg finished 6-1 after closing the day 2-1. St. Mary's (MD) took the Pacers in four followed by a 3-0 sweep from USA South neighbor NC Wesleyan.
In the Pacers opening match versus Lynchburg, the set scores were 25-18, 25-22, 25-18. Sophomore Amber Lowe (Cedar Grove, NC) led Peace with 11 kills in the loss.
In the second match with St. Mary's (MD), Peace opened strong with a 25-23 set-one win. But the Seahawks picked up the next three, 25-17, 25-14, 25-23, for the win. Lowe, Leah Chandler (Chapel Hill, NC) and Megan Melchiorre (Durham, NC) led Peace with seven kills apiece. Lowe added 26 digs and first-year setter Bree Crook (Reno, NV) recorded 21 assists.
The Pacers closed the day with a peak at conference foe NC Wesleyan (3-6), picked to finish second in the USA South preseason poll. The Bishops swept Peace 3-0 with set scores of 25-20, 25-13, 25-11. Kaitlyn Craven (Southern Pines, NC) led her team with five kills from the middle. Setter Olivia Griffin (High Point, NC) picked up 11 assists in the loss.
Peace finally enjoys action at home in the Hermann Student Center opening Wednesday, September 16, versus Averett University in the team's first conference match this season. See you on the sidelines!
