Meredith Takes Peace in Five

Raleigh, NC-The Pacer volleyball squad lost hold of a 2-1 lead to drop tonight's league match to the Avenging Angels in five.  Peace moved to 7-10 overall (3-4 USA South).  Meredith (8-11, 4-5) edged ahead of the Pacers in conference standings with tonight's win.

The teams exchanged points throughout set one before Peace sealed the 25-21 win on two kills from Amber Lowe (Cedar Grove, NC), assisted by Leah Chandler (Chapel Hill, NC).

Peace held a 24-21 set two lead but allowed their opponent the opportunity to go up by one on a four-point service run from Rebecca Yow.  The teams exchanged points before the Angels took the 29-27 win on a Pacer error.

Meredith took an early 5-2 lead in set three before Lowe served Peace to a two-point advantage.  The team maintained control until the Angels Yow once again pushed her team ahead.  The Pacers maintained their composure to retake the lead and finish the set 25-22.

The visitor's led set four 15-13 and appeared to be headed toward a strong finish.  Unfortunately, the Pacers faded into the shadows of Meredith's 12-1 run to tie the match 2-2 and force a fifth set.

The Angels finished with a strong 15-8 set win to seal the match.

Megan Melchiorre (Durham, NC) led her team with 15 kills, adding 13 digs and two blocks.  Elizabeth Evanoff (Manns Harbor, NC) led all with nine blocks, adding 11 kills.  Lowe earned her fifth double-double of the season recording 12 kills and 23 digs.

Meredith's Morgan White led all with a match-high 21 kills and 21 digs.  Yow finished with 45 sets.

Peace next hosts Guilford College Thursday evening at the Hermann Student Center gymnasium.  The match is slated to begin at 7:00 pm.  See you on the sidelines!
