Peace Splits Final Play Date; Finish Sixth

Staunton, VA-The Peace College (13-18, 8-10 USAS) volleyball team split today's final USA South play date with a 3-2 loss to Methodist (18-10, 10-8 USAS) and a 3-0 sweep of host Mary Baldwin (4-30, 1-17 USAS).  Today's conference action around the league earned Peace the sixth seed in the tournament.  The Pacers are set to play #3 Averett (22-14, 13-5 USAS) in Danville, Virginia, next Tuesday.  The Cougars notched a 2-0 series lead during the regular season.

Peace jumped out to an early 2-0 lead against Methodist with scores of 27-25 and 25-18.  The Monarchs tied the match with wins of 25-22 and 25-20 in the third and fourth.  MU maintained the advantage in set five with a quick 7-0 lead they would never lose.  Methodist sealed the match on a 15-10 win.  Amber Lowe (Cedar Grove, NC) tallied a team-high 14 kills in 48 attempts, adding 14 digs.  Bree Crook (Reno, NV) notched 12 assists and a team-high 20 digs for Peace.

The Pacers swept the Fighting Squirrels in the nightcap with scores of 25-20, 25-13, 25-23.  Lowe recorded 11 kills and 16 digs to earn a dozen double-doubles on the season.  Crook tallied a team-high 17 digs and dished out 15 more assists.  Senior Elizabeth Evanoff (Manns Harbor, NC) tallied 13 kills on the day, adding four blocks.

Round one of the USA South tournament pairs Peace with Averett.  The match is slated to begin at 7:00 pm in Danville.  See you on the sidelines!
