Naugle leads Pacers past Pride
Raleigh, N.C. – The Peace Pacers rallied back from set point in the opener and cruised to a 3-0 (27-25, 25-22, 25-12) win over the Greensboro Pride Wednesday night in a USA South match at the Hermann Student Center. The win avenged a 3-2 loss last weekend to the Pride in the Greensboro Invitational.
With the Pride up, 24-22, and Dana Sandknop serving at set point, the Pacers rallied to win three straight points and five of the last six to take the set. A kill by Lauren Naugle staved off elimination and then Naugle served the next two points to put Peace on top.
The second set was another close one and was tied at 22-22. But again Naugle came through when the Pacers needed her most. Her kill gave Peace a one-point lead and she served out the set by winning the final two points.
After falling behind early in the first two sets, the Pacers raced out to an 8-2 lead in the final period and never looked back. With the win Peace (5-8) evened its conference record at 2-2. Greensboro (5-8) now sits with a 1-3 mark in USA South action.
Up next for the Pacers is a tri-match Sunday the 25th at Methodist. At 3:00 PM Peace takes on Mary Baldwin and at 5:00 PM the Pacers go up against the host Monarchs.
