Volleyball sweeps in Southern Virginia

Buena Vista, Va. – The Peace Pacers trip to the Southern Virginia tri-match was a successful one, as they swept their two games on Saturday.

In the opening match, Peace claimed a 3-2 win over the host Knights, 3-2 (25-22, 11-25, 25-12, 20-25, 15-13). In the pivotal fifth set, the Pacers jumped out to a 14-8 lead and seemed to have the game in hand. But Southern Virginia pulled within one point and was serving for the tie. The match ended with a serving error.

In the second contest, Peace downed Hollins, 3-1 (25-23, 25-16, 17-25, 25-22).

The Pacers (12-16) have now won three straight games and six of their last nine contests. Up next is another tri-match on Sunday, this one at Christopher Newport, as they take on the Captains and the Ferrum Panthers.  The hosts are undefeated this year in USA South play, are 25-4 overall and are ranked eighth in the AVCA Coaches poll. Meanwhile the Panthers come in at 0-24.
