Pacers win fourth straight in volleyball

Raleigh, N.C. – The William Peace University Pacers concluded their regular season with a 3-1 win (23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-18) over the Division II Converse Valkyries Tuesday night on Senior Night at the Hermann Center. It was the seventh win in the last nine games for the Pacers.

It was the second match of the night for the Valkyries, who began the night by dropping a four-set game to the Meredith Avenging Angels.

However the winless Valkyries jumped on top early and took a 20-9 lead before holding on for a two-point win in the opening set.

The Pacers took control of the final three sets and cruised to their 15th win of the season. The match was not without controversy, though, as in the fourth set the visitors were dinged for using the wrong server.

Brooke Norris, the team's only senior, was honored before the game and she played her usual fine all-around match. Norris led Peace with 34 assists and she also contributed 6 kills and 12 digs in the winning effort.

Lauren Naugle chimed in with 13 kills, 5 aces and 17 digs while Connor Davis added 12 kills and 17 digs.

The Pacers advance to the USA South Conference tournament this weekend in Martinsville, Va. Peace will go up against N.C. Wesleyan in the quarterfinal round. The Battling Bishops won two games over the Pacers in the regular season.
