Enid Badillo joined the Peace College volleyball coaching staff
this fall after a five-year stint developing the Raleigh Charter
High School varsity volleyball program. She led the team to the
final-four among North Carolina High School Athletic Association 1A
teams two of the last three years, losing to the eventual state
champ both times.
In addition to coaching at the high school level, Badillo continued
her role with the local USAV Carolina Region clubs. Badillo joined
the N.C. Elite team in September. She coached a variety of age
groups during her six-year tenure with Team Complete Athlete (TCO),
formerly Capital City Volleyball Club (CCVC), here in Raleigh, and
led her 2005 16's team and 2006 14's team to a silver medal in the
regional championships.
Badillo began her playing career and love of the game in Bayamon,
Puerto Rico. She continued to compete through her first year of
college. Badillo coached a youth boy's team in Puerto Rico and
after moving to the States in 1983 became an assistant coach at
Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon. She moved to North
Carolina in 1992.
Badillo is on track to complete the Community Spanish Interpreting
degree program in May 2011 from Johnston Community College. In 2008
she completed level one of the USA Volleyball's coaching
accreditation program (CAP I).
A resident of nearby Clatyon with daughter Maya, Badillo enjoys
playing dominoes, watching most any sport, and relaxing with family
and friends.
