Cross Country Prepares for Conference Meet with Local Run

Cary, NC—Peace co-hosted one final meet of the 2008 season Saturday with Meredith College at the WakeMed Soccer Park.  The Spirits of Salem College and the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan College joined in the first-ever Raleigh Women’s’ Invitational.

The Pacers entered three of five runners to challenge the pool of 22 Division III runners.  Senior Ashley Simms led Peace with a tenth place finish at 29:42:00.  Bethany Vance and Allison Gilmore rounded out the scoring for Peace at fifteenth and seventeenth place.  Katherine Douglass and Ashley Dellinger continue to nurture injuries with hopes to race in the conference meet in a couple of weeks.

Salem College captured the win with the top three spots.  The Spirit’s Rachel Fichthorn led all finishing with a time of 24:49:00.  Meredith was the only other team to score.  The Pacers complete the season Saturday, November 1, wt the USA South Conference meet held annually at Hagen-Stone Park.  The women’s race is slated to begin at 11:00 am.  See oyu on the sidelines!
