Pacers Finish One-Two, Take Second
Raleigh, NC-The Peace College cross country squad opened the 2009 season today in a dual meet at Meredith College. While the Pacers top two runners jumped out to an early lead, the team took second place overall.
Cross country newcomers senior Kimberly Zullo (Greenville, NC) and first-year Guadalupe Rostro (Angier, NC) finished one-two and led with a sizeable advantage the entire race. Meredith took the next seven spots to capture the win.
Sophomore veteran Allison Gilmore (Raleigh, NC) maintained a steady pace to round out the top ten. Senior Bethany Vance (Portland, ME) finished a solid run, and sophomores Kathryn Gilbert (Hertford, NC) and Nicole Sorrell (Cary, NC) completed their first competitive race to help the Pacers score.
Peace runs next in the Fifth Annual Salem College Invitational on Saturday, September 12. The team returns to Raleigh Friday, September 18, for the Reebok Wolfpack Invitational at WakeMed Soccer Park's world-class course.
