Zullo Tops DIII Runners in Wolfpack Invitational
Cary, NC-Peace College competed against Division I, II, and III institutions in today's Wolfpack Invitational at WakeMed Soccer Park's world-class cross country course. The University of Maryland took the top team spot over host North Carolina State, and the Pacers came in a strong sixth among the ten schools. North Carolina A&T, Winston-Salem State, St. Augustine's, Barton, Shaw, St. Paul's, and USA South member North Carolina Wesleyan competed in the women's 5K race.
Each of the six Peace runners improved on their 5K times this season with Kim Zullo (Greenville, NC) leading the way. Zullo finished 37 in the pool of more than 90 female runners in the college division and first among the DIII competition. Teammate Lupe Rostro (Angier, NC) followed close behind at 43.
Raleigh native Allison Gilmore continues to strengthen her pace and cut her best time by more than two minutes in today's run. Bethany Vance (Portland, ME) followed Gilmore at 75, and Kathryn Gilbert (Hertford, NC) dropped more than three minutes off her best time. Junior Tiffany Noble (Knightdale, NC) completed her first race this season.
Peace competes on the same course Friday, October 2, in the Great American Cross Country Festival. The race begins at 4:30 pm. See you on the sidelines!
