Kelly
Johnson is entering his fourth year as the
Director of Athletics and Head Basketball
Coach at Peace College. During the 2004-05
and 2005-06 seasons the Pacers tied for 3rd
place during the regular seasaon in the USA
South Athletic Conference as well as advancing
to the Conference Tournament semifinals both
seasons. In 2006-07 the team finished sixth
during the regular season and was eliminated
in the USA South Tournament Quarterfinals.
Johnson spent twenty years teaching and coaching
at Arendell Parrott Academy in Kinston, North
Carolina where he was the Varsity Boys Head
Basketball Coach for eight seasons as well
as Director of Athletics for 18 years. Coach
Johnson took his 2001 Basketball team to the
NCISAA State Championship game; they were
also State Semifinalist in 1997 and 2002.
His 2000, 2001 and 2002 teams were both Regular
Season and Tournament Champions in the East
Plains Independent Conference.
Coach Johnson, along with his wife Debbie,
founded and ran the East Carolina Storm AAU
Girls Basketball program from 1993 to 2004.
His 14 and Under team won the North Carolina
State Championship in 1995 advancing to the
AAU Nationals that same year. The same team
also advanced to the AAU Nationals in 1997
and 1998. In 2002 his 13 and under team won
the AAU National Invitational Tournament Bronze
Division in Orlando Florida. He has coached
20 girls who went on to play college basketball
including Teana McKiver, a Tulane University
graduate, who is now a member of the Charlotte
Sting of the WNBA.
A 1977 graduate of East Carolina University,
Johnson also earned a M. A. in Education from
East Carolina in 1989. He played two years
of intercollegiate Basketball at Lenoir Community
College from 1973-1975. Johnson and his wife
have 3 children, Patrick a 2000 graduate of
East Carolina University, Tate a UNC-Wilmington
2003 graduate and Brooke a Peace College Alumnae,
class of 2004.

Wendy
Jones joins the Pacer staff as the new SWA/SID.
Jones served four years as Athletic Director
as well as Head Varsity Coach for Volleyball
and Women's Basketball of nearby Raleigh Charter
High School. During her tenure at Raleigh
Charter she developed a cohesive athletic
program that continues to succeed. She also
secured the school's membership in the NCHSAA
Mid-State 1A athletic conference.
Jones earned her B .A. from
Agnes Scott College, a women's college in
Decatur, GA in 1993. She earned an M. A. in
Sports Administration in 2000 from East Carolina
University. Jones spent the last two years
in property management in Clayton, NC where
she currently resides. |

Sarah
Smoak joined the Pacer staff this fall as
the new Athletic Recruiting Coordinator and
Assistant Basketball Coach. Smoak played point
guard for four years while studying at Lynchburg
College in Virginia, where she was named to
the ODAC Academic All-Conference team and
served as captain her senior year. As a Hornet,
Smoak was selected to the ODAC Senior All-Star
Team in 2006. Smoak also served as her team's
representative of the college's Student-Athlete
Advisory Committee.
Smoak earned a B. S. in
Exercise Physiology from Lynchburg College.
While at Lynchburg, Smoak interned for the
Lynchburg College Women's Basketball program
planning and overseeing pre-season strength
and conditioning programs. She also interned
with the Duke University Men's Basketball
program in the summer of 2005. After graduating,
Smoak spent six months working for Nike in
Honolulu, HI as an associate of the running
club staff and gained experience marketing
for the Honolulu Marathon.
Smoak has coaching experience
as a basketball camp instructor at various
programs across the nation including: Duke
University, University of Connecticut, University
of Virginia, University of Missouri, University
of Maryland, Clemson University, Davidson
College, Albright College (PA), Shepherd University,
and Lynchburg College.

Athletic
Trainer, Ashley Brandow, is entering her ninth
year with the Pacers. Her career at Peace
began after completing her bachelor's degree
at UNC Chapel Hill in 1997 and completing
her certification and licensure requirements.
Brandow received her Master of Arts degree
from UNC in August 2001 in Exercise and Sports
Science with a concentration in Athletic Training.
Brandow has also completed EMT coursework
and has received her personal training certification
from the American Council on Exercise.

Head
Coach Charlie Dobbins is entering his ninth
year as head coach of the Pacers. His blueprint
for success stretches 34 years in the sport
of fastpitch softball. As a player and coach,
he has led his various teams to sixteen National
Championships. As a professional, he toured
with the World famous "King and his Court"
and "King of Diamonds" fast-pitch
teams. His experience and history within the
game allows him to relate to today's players,
from the physical issues they face, to the
important mental preparation that is required
to be successful.
Coach Dobbins has served on many softball
related committees, most recently, he was
the NCAA Atlantic region representative on
the NFCA / USA Today Division III "Top
25" Committee. Coach Dobbins presently
represents the NCAA Atlantic region as a member
of the NFCA Division III All-American and
Coaching Staff of the Year Committee.
Coach Dobbins is a 1981 graduate of Roger
Williams University (Division III) in Bristol
Rhode Island; where he played varsity baseball
and football.
Coach Dobbins inherited a first year program
at Peace that was 2-22 in the spring of 1999.
His teams have continued to improve during
his tenure as head coach. Peace College entered
the USA South Athletic Conference in 2004.
Four years later, the program has established
itself as a leader in the USA South Athletic
Conference as well as the NCAA Atlantic region.
15 players have been named to All Conference
teams and 8 have been placed on the NFCA /
Louisville Slugger Atlantic Division All Region
Team.
Coach Dobbins was the driving
force behind the successful bid that awarded
Peace College and the City of Raleigh the
2005 & 2006 NCAA DIII National Softball
Championships.
Coach Dobbins represented the United States
during the summer of 2006 as the head coach
of a USA Athletes International Softball team
that competed in the 2006 Spanish Cup in Barcelona
Spain.

Beverly Lineberger serves as the Pacers new Head Volleyball
Coach. Lineberger led Apex High School to
seven Tri-Seven Conference Championships during
her 9-year tenure with the Cougars. Her 2001
and 2005 teams competed in the 4-A State Semi-Finals.
Lineberger served as Tournament Director of
the NCHSAA State Volleyball Championship for
eight years. She coordinated and instructed
summer camps, including a volleyball camp
for middle school girls. During the last decade,
Lineberger officiated multiple sports for
NCSU intramurals, Cary Parks and Recreation,
and USA Volleyball.
Lineberger received a B.
S. in both Biological Sciences and Science
Education from NCSU. She was a recipient of
the NC Teaching Fellows Scholarship and proceeded
to teach Wildlife Management at NCSU and science
while at Apex. |

McEleney
comes to Peace after a very successful collegiate
career at NCAA Division II Barton College.
At Barton, McEleney was a two-year starter
who played center half and stopper and led
the Lady Bulldogs to the 2001 Carolina Virginia's
Athletic Conference Championship. McEleney
also served as the soccer representative for
the Student Athlete Awareness Committee.
I am excited to be a part of such a young
program and I look forward to building a reputation
for Peace Soccer in the USA South and beyond
McEleney stated about her new position. I
am ready to meet the current players and begin
recruiting a new crop of talent to take the
necessary steps to make Peace soccer a winner
on the field."
McEleney received her B.S. degree in Psychology
and a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice/Criminology
in 2005 from Barton College. McEleney is currently
working toward her M.A. in Clinical Psychology
at North Carolina Central University.
Prior to being named head coach at Peace,
McEleney served as the head coach for the
U-12 girls team with the Wilson Youth Soccer
Association for two seasons. She also helped
out with the high school team at Community
Christian School in Wilson and Magellan Charter
School in Raleigh. McEleney has worked numerous
soccer camps with the Wilson Family YMCA and
Barton College.

Cy
King is in his sixth year as head coach of
the Pacers tennis team. Coach King is a Raleigh
native and graduate of Broughton High School.
He played #1 singles and #1 doubles on the
1970 NCHSAA 4A state Championship team and
teamed with Jim Dorsett to win the State Doubles
title. King earned a B. A. in History at North
Carolina State University. He competed for
four years on the Wolfpack Tennis team playing
#2 singles and #1 doubles his senior year.
Coach King served as Tennis
Director for the Raleigh Parks System for
30 years beginning in 1974. During his tenure
Raleigh was recognized as one of the outstanding
parks programs in the country winning numerous
awards. Raleigh's program was named North
Carolina's Outstanding Parks and Recreation
Program in 2001.
King was recognized as the
Southern Tennis Association Volunteer of the
Year for the State of North Carolina in 1993.
He was presented the inaugural Mary Milam
Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding
contributions to Tennis in North Carolina
in 1996 and was selected as the United States
Professional Tennis Association Professional
of the Year for North Carolina that same year.
The Raleigh Chapter of the USTA/National Junior
Tennis League was selected as National Chapter
of the Year in 1996. King was selected the
News and Observer's Tar Heel of the Week on
May 11, 1997 and was inducted into the North
Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame in January 2005.
In addition to serving as Tennis Director
for the City of Raleigh, Coach King served
as General Manager of the Raleigh Racquet
Club. He has volunteered on local, state,
regional and national committees of the United
States Tennis Association (USTA). He is past-President
of the North Carolina Tennis Association and
the North Carolina Tennis Foundation. He has
served as an at-large board member of the
USTA/Southern. He currently serves as the
USTA's Tennis Service Representative for North
Carolina.

Rob
King holds a MA in Physical Education from
East Tennessee State University. Coach King
is certified by the American College of Sports
Medicine as a Health/Fitness Instructor.
In his tenth year as a Physical Education
and Health Instructor and eighth year as Cross
Country Coach, he believes strongly that the
playing fields are simply an extension of
the classroom. A student of exercise science
and novice runner for more than 18 years,
Coach King delights in the opportunity to
bridge the gap between science and practice.
Coach King’s current focus is to facilitate
consistent improvement in individual and team
performance for Peace College's Cross Country
squad.

Charlie
Biddlecome is beginning his 5th season as
Assistant Softball Coach at Peace College.
Coach Biddlecome began coaching fastpitch
in 1985 when his oldest daughter took an interest
in the game. Since then he has coached players
of all skill levels and ages. For 15 years
he coached tournament travel ball for several
Philadelphia-area teams prior to relocating
to North Carolina. He has become a student
of the game, always seeking the latest and
best techniques and tools to give his players
an edge for success.
A graduate of Somerville High School in Somerville,
NJ, Biddlecome served in the United States
Army from 1961-1964. He earned a Bachelor
of Science in 1973 from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. He worked in the pharmaceutical
industry for over 30 years, as Clinical Trials
Manager for the last half. Biddlecome retired
in 1998 from the industry.
He and his wife Sandy have
been married 35 years. They have two children
and two grandchildren.
